Mara springs Camp
Sustainability
This accommodation provider has taken action to address one or more issues (whether environmental, social or cultural) which will contribute positively to the long term viability of the destination and hence their site displays a Caring for the destination rating.
Main area of focus in Caring for the Destination:
Most of the camps at the Mara Springs Camp are semi-permanent and, therefore, they do not affect the environment by cutting down the trees. The accommodation has employed many Masai people.
Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative:
The camp is outside of the Masai Mara National Reserve near the local communities. While there, you can enjoy a short walk to the Masai villages nearby and pay a small fee for your Masai cultural village tour around the homesteads - commonly known as the Manyattas. This camp, therefore, allows the locals to benefit financially from this tourism. In addition, the camp has employed a good number of the Masai people as waiters, chefs and security guards.
