Naivasha - Hells Gate National Park

Duration: 2 day(s) - Location: Naivasha

The dramatic landscape of Hell’s Gate is within close proximity of Nairobi and offers a wonderful opportunity to see game on foot, mountain bike or in a vehicle. The variety of game most commonly seen within the park includes giraffe, zebra, buffalo and Thompson’s gazelle; however, you may have the chance of the occasional spotting of a cheetah. From the Elsa gate, you may travel a circuit through Hells Gate gorge with its jagged cliffs and the volcanic pinnacles of Fischer’s and central tower. Narrow canyons cut into the rock further ahead and offer the opportunity of a very scenic walk. You can see the geothermal steam jets as you complete the circuit to the Ol Karia gate.

Itinerary
on this page

Your safari to Hells Gate will begin early in the morning, around 8 a.m. It is a 2 hr drive to Naivasha, which will take you into the Great Rift Valley. You will have a short stop over at the escarpments viewpoint, and then proceed on to Naivasha. Arrive at Fisherman’s camp, check in, have lunch then head for Hell's Gate, which is a stone’s throw away. One can decide on either trekking in the gorges, have a bicycle ride or rock climbing inside the park up to the ranger’s point that is the starting point of the gorges trekking, which takes 2 to 3 hours. Then you will go back to the camp to relax and have dinner.

After having your breakfast, you can also visit Crater Lake, go to see the snakes in a nearby Private Museum, or have a boat ride at the lake. Later on, you will head back to Nairobi where you will be transferred to the airport.
