Nakuru National Park

Duration: 2 day(s) - Location: Nakuru

Lake Nakuru National Park is known around the world as Bird watchers Paradise Park; it is one of the greatest bird spectacles on earth as it nests'  more than 400 different types of bird species apart from having millions of flamingos that carpet the whole lake. The park also has various types of animals, which include rhinos, baboons, giraffes, impalas, warthogs, waterbuck, leopards, reedbucks, and buffalos. In Nakuru, there are two different types of flamingos: greater and lesser flamingos. The lesser flamingos can be differentiated by having deep red carmine bill and pink plumage unlike the greater flamingo, which has a bill with a black tip. There are more of the lesser flamingos and these are the ones mostly commonly pictured in documentaries. Currently, the flamingo populations are steadily increasing due to the favorable level of water in the lake.
